Driving and Flying

The venue the couple has chosen is called Ivy Hall Events. The address is 1127 S St Mary's St, San Antonio, TX 78210. The area is fantastic, close enough to anything you need, but far enough from the Riverwalk to have manageable traffic. Plan to have a car pick you up from the airport if you fly and want to stay anywhere outside of the airport circle. Most airport hotels have a free shuttle! If you stay in the vicinity of the Riverwalk, you will make it just fine on your own two feet.

The airport is about a 12-15 minute commute to the Riverwalk. If you want to stay close to the airport, you will have tons of options at great rates with free parking. Expect to pay right under $100/night or up to $150/night on average. Rates can go up to $200/night if you want to get very fancy, but all preferences can be accounted for in this area. Entertainment and restaurant options will not be as walkable here, so keep that in mind. A car would be fairly mandatory if you stay close to the airport.

If you want to stay in where the action is, go straight to the Riverwalk. Plan to pay for parking in the area, as many hotels are valet only. However, there are many garages and lots in the area with low rates for daily parking so do a quick search before giving the hotel $45/night plus tax. For example, Saint Mary’s Garage is $5/day. Hotel rates in this area will jump quickly so book early and keep an eye on deals! Try the Sonesta ES Suites San Antonio Downtown Alamo Plaza. It is my favorite near the magic that won’t break the bank. The plus side to being on the Riverwalk, is you are also maybe a mile from the wedding venue!

What about the wedding day?

There will be a bar, so if you plan to partake, please plan a ride! You can always walk if you are at a hotel near St. Mary’s but I do not advise attempting that walk alone late at night. An uber will take you less than 15 minutes, including the time you typically have to wait for a car.

Etiquette?

Please dress in your Sunday Best! The venue is beautiful and most activities will be outside so plan accordingly. Temperature control and cover from the weather will be considered and accommodated. Slacks and a blazer, a fancy brunch dress, or a modern jumpsuit would all fit the occasion well. Don’t forget a nice jacket just in case!
