Filipino and American Fusion Wedding at the Rose Mansion in Salado, TX

Hey hey lovebirds!

Today we are bringing you a recap of Penelope’s big day! We provided her coordination, floral, set up, and strike for the night and could not have had more fun! Her family and friends were the nicest people and we felt right at home. The couple lives in Vegas but found us by looking for unique Austin wedding planners. And the rest is history!

Penelope is Filipino and her husband, Austin, is American. The couple brought their families and traditions together perfectly and there was not a dry eye in the house after this one! Filipino wedding ceremonies include “sponsors” or family that is near and dear to the couple and has chosen to help plan/pay for the wedding as a symbol of their support for the couple and their new lives. The sponsors participate in the ceremony by bestowing certain gifts or leading certain traditions. For our couple, there were cord, candle, ring, and veil sponsors. Each played an important part in the ceremony to mimic the part they do and will play in the couple’s new life. There were then custom vows written by Penelope and Austin as well as an American ring exchange.

Some aspects of the wedding were tweaked to match the couple and not either of the family traditions, and we love that! We asked the couple how they wanted the day to look and feel and they described their vibe as “dark Polynesian boho.” I was giddy with inspiration!

The colors were black, green, and gold. The flower girls and entire bridal party wore black. We used tropical greenery on their sweetheart table backdrop and their tables. We also created menus for the table settings to match their aesthetic. Candles were everywhere and there was even a neon sign!

Even the venue itself was unique in that this was not a wedding venue! The Rose Mansion is an old B&B in Salado, TX but Penelope’s aunt purchased it and uses it as her private residence now. They have been fixing it up for awhile and enough of it was renovated to have the wedding party and immediate family stay onsite.

We basically built this venue the morning of the wedding. We coordinated rental of a tent, tables, chairs, linen, and some tabletop decor. We set tables and chairs, assigned linen, styled the ceremony, hung the neon sign from a tree, created the sweetheart backdrop on the fly, everything. A lot of the sponsors provided decor but the end result was the team putting it together in a way that was beautiful and in line with the client vision! This happens every so often. When the client has a design plan, but we show up and there is more or less than we planned for, we just make it work! The bride was extremely pleased with everything she saw and the night was a success.
